At the Microsoft Management Summit today, SteveB demo'ed MOM picking up hardware events from a Sun box over WS-Management. This is one of the coolest WS apps today - Sun and Intel are both working on WS-Man implementations in their firmware, which will let management consoles talk to the firmware over WS-* protocols without having to go through the OS - all you need is power to the NIC and you can get (and set) data - pre-boot, post-crash, and anywhere in between. Wicked cool.
Another cool thing mentioned in his keynote (and in that article) is that Virtual Server 2005 will run Linux in addition to the various Windows variants. A much better solution than having to create a dual-boot machine with GRUB managing Windows/Linux partitions.
